How to convert minor account to major account?

Once your minor child turns 18 age, he/she becomes major and the demat account will be no longer remain operative. The demat account must be converted from a minor to major account.

For Minor to major account conversion, you have to fill out an individual account opening form for major, attach necessary documents and provide them to your broker.

List of documents required;

  • A passport photograph
  • Self-attested copy of new PAN card
  • Self-attested copy of address proof
  • A bank account proof i.e., cancelled cheque, bank statement, etc.
  • An income proof (only mandatory to trade in the futures & options segment)

Once the status of minors demat account is updated from minor to individual, you can now trade in equity intraday and delivery and F&O segment. You can operate the demat account yourself without parent or guardian.
